This home-made treat is made to my own closely guarded recipe, with hand cut red onions (which each autumn are home-grown in a small batch as well as sourced locally) and is hand-cut by me then simmered for hours on top of the AGA with a good red wine vinegar and an organic balsamic vinegar, cooking down to a wonderful dark onion jam. Prefect to serve as a dip with crisps or cheese and crackers, or as a cooking sauce for making sausages more glamorous, and in my house it is always used as an accompaniment to a roast dinner. This flavour is available in freshly made batches all year round and was my top best seller in 2013 and 2014. A good choice for a Gift Hamper at any time of the year that may have to be stored for a while because it has a shelf life of a year.
