Countryfile visited Portmore RSPB Reserve

We were delighted this week when the BBC’s Countryfile came to the RSPB nature reserve Portmore Lough, which is just 2 small fields away from our garden. It’s so close that at night in the winter we can hear the overwintering geese honking as they feed. The show filmed the Irish Hares which live there and sometimes visit our front garden in spring, as well as the wild ponies that roam the nature reserve to keep the wetlands from turning into a woodland.
